As a lifelong admirer, I’ve followed Siriano’s career from his early days studying under Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen in London to launching his groundbreaking collection in 2008. For me, Siriano’s journey is deeply personal. Growing up, theater was our family sport. When I wasn’t acting, I was busy playing fashion designer—sketching full Barbie wardrobes and turning frilly socks in haute couture and shoeboxes into convertibles. My daughter was only three when she first started strutting around the grocery store in plastic high heels before becoming my most enthusiastic little stylist. From her early days, pushing a miniature shopping cart loaded with snacks and chicken nuggets, to our countless nights staying up to watch Project Runway (which has been our creative anthem for 21 seasons), fashion was the heartbeat of our home. We’ve dreamt together of launching a fashion line—our Pinterest boards are a testament to those wild, hopeful ideas.

A few years ago, I even designed a recycled fashion line, Paper Jewells, for my company, House of Hen Studios, using my family as models. Later, when I met my husband, I introduced him and his son to the fashion world through Project Runway, jokingly calling the designers my “coworkers” as the seasons play endlessly on repeat in our household. Now, with our youngest at 16 already setting his sights on fashion school, our family of five artists—aged 16, 26, 28, 45, and 46—lives and breathes creativity and is ready for Season 21 of Project Runway.
